Kenny Durham is a multi-platinum songwriter from Hohenwald, Tennessee. His original music has been described as a blend of Country, Folk and Pop. Kate Elliott, Executive Producer of Elliott Arts, New York, says, “Kenny Durham performs with an honesty and a pure sincerity that transports the listener to those great places; truth and love. He is funny, romantic and a true individual. He makes you want to linger.”
Kenny performed live with bands in the United States and Eastern Canada from 1978 to1998. He fronted Charlie Daniels, Barbara Mandrell, Nat Stuckey, Narvel Felts, Stonewall Jackson and Mark Collie. From 1989 to 1998 he also sang Gospel music in Tennessee and Alabama. Kenny now wants to establish himself as a solo artist .He cut his second CD due to overwhelming requests for a CD with just him and his guitar. His new CD contains 8 original songs. Kenny has performances scheduled in Arizona and Tennessee in 2005 to promote this new CD. John Nicholson, owner of Hilltop Recording Studio, Nashville, says, “I have been recording Kenny in the studio for several years .One thing that impresses me every time is the heart felt performances he puts into his songs. He really gets the meaning of the songs across to the listener. There are very few that have that kind of talent.”
After winning the FOX 17 male vocalist contest in 2001, Kenny appeared live on the Charlie Chase Show and sang his original song, “Good-Bye-John.” Charlie said this tribute song to John Denver was, “one of the catchiest songs I have heard in a long time.” He also appeared live on the Ralph Emery Show. In addition to singing, Kenny has been in videos for Lone Star and Billy Gilman, TV commercials and a movie with David Allen Coe.
Kenny headlined as a solo artist at Fall Hollow Village for the last two years and at The Emporium coffee house for 9 months in 2004. He performed at The Hard Rock Café in Nashville for 2 months in 2005. He toured Arizona in 2004 and 2005. Kenny is already booked in 2005 to perform at various festivals, concerts, and private engagements. He is also currently performing twice a week at the Junk Yard Dog in Hohenwald, Tennessee.
Kenny’s solo career has allowed audiences to get to know Kenny up close and personal. In a recent performance in Scottsdale Arizona, Nia Maxwell from Fiddler’s Dream said, “Kenny’s music really touched our audience the night he performed. He sang and played beautifully on some familiar and some not so familiar songs, giving each one his own personal touch. We have a lot of folks ask when he will be coming back, and we tell them, as often as we can get him! I have only great things to say about Kenny Durham.”
